Cony champs

Cony players hoist the championship trophy and celebrate their perfect season with a win over South Portland in the Class A softball championship at St. Joseph’s College in Standish on Saturday. Cony had a 22-0 season with their 2-0 win over the Red Riots on Saturday.

Deportation change has impact

Selvin Arevalo, 26, moved from Guatemala to Portland when he was 14 to be with his brother and sister. Over the years, he became a respected member of Portland’s Hispanic community. He graduated from Portland High School and is now studying part-time at Southern Maine Community College.
