JEFFERSON — Hidden Valley Nature Center, 131 Egypt Road, will hold its second annual biathlon on Sunday, Jan. 27.

The race course consists of a one-kilometre loop and a shooting range. The shooting range, specialized biathlon air rifles, and targets are provided and manned by the Southern Maine Biathlon Club. Maine Winter Sports Center will supply free ski equipment.

Individual and team divisions include youth, age 10-14; high school; adult; timid skier; and snowshoeing for all ages.

The day’s schedule includes a mandatory shooting and gun safety clinic and beginners ski clinic from 9 to 11 a.m. and the race at 11:30 a.m.

The Liberal Cup of Hallowell is the event sponsor.

Space is limited and early registration is recommended. Registration before Jan. 20 costs $15 for adults and $10 for high school-age students and younger and registration Jan. 20-27 costs $20 for adults and $15 for high school-age students and younger.
