NEWCASTLE — The Sheepscot Valley Conservation Association will kick off its 2013 speaker series, “People on the Sheepscot: A Human History,” on Wednesday, Jan. 9, with a talk by Newcastle town historian and author, Arlene Cole.

Cole will speak about the people of Newcastle and Sheepscot and their relationship to the Sheepscot River. The talk will begin at 6:30 p.m. at the conservation association office, 624 Sheepscot Road. Snow date will be Jan. 10 at the same time.

Cole has written two books, “Between Two Rivers,” which was published to commemorate the 250th anniversary of Newcastle’s town incorporation, and “History Tales of Newcastle, Maine,” a compilation of the articles she has written for the Lincoln County News.
