WATERVILLE — Chris Hudnut scored 25 points and grabbed 10 rebounds in his first collegiate New England Small College Athletic Conference game to lead the Colby College men’s basketball team to a 69-65 win over Hamilton College on Sunday at Wadsworth Gymnasium.
Hudnut, a 6-foot-8 first-year center, shot 9-for-12 from the field and made all three of his 3-point field goal attempts.
Colby (4-7, 1-0 NESCAC) point guard Shane Rogers had eight assists and no turnovers, while Sam Willson, Patrick Stewart and Danny Chase all had 10 points. The Mules shot 64.3 percent (9-for-14) from 3-point range.
Matt Hart scored 22 points to lead Hamilton (7-7, 0-2).
Women’s basketball
Colby 44, Hamilton 41: Colby had a 16 point lead with 7:43 left in the game, but had to hold off a furious Hamilton comeback to earn the NESCAC win at Wadsworth Gymnasium.
Diana Manduca led the Mules (6-6, 1-0 NESCAC) with 12 points and six rebounds, while Carylanne Wolfington, a Hall-Dale graduate, finished with 11 points and a game-high nine rebounds. Jacky McLaughlin added 10 points and Waterville’s Jen Nale chipped in six.
Dani Feigin led Hamilton (5-6, 0-2) with 12 points, four assists, and two steals.
Women’s ice hockey
Brown 6, Maine 5: Brittany Dougherty scored a pair of goals for the Black Bears, but Brown earned the win in Providence, R.I.
Lauren Vella scored a pair of goals for Brown (3-9-1). Katie Jamieson made 22 saves for Brown.
Brittany Ott and Meghann Treacy combined to make 21 saves for Maine (3-15-1).
