PORTLAND — President Barack Obama’s inaugural committee may have scaled back festivities, but that isn’t stopping a Maine law firm from holding a Maine event.
The law firm Preti Flaherty is hosting an invitation-only event featuring Sens. Susan Collins and Angus King, Reps. Mike Michaud and Chellie Pingree and a host of dignitaries, including former Sen. George Mitchell and Gov. John Baldacci, on Jan. 20 at the New Zealand embassy.
Attorney Severin Beliveau hatched the idea for the event four years ago, feeling there was a need for a Maine-focused event in Washington.
This time, the party is being opened up to include New Hampshire’s congressional delegation and Gov. Peter Shumlin and Rep. Peter Welch of Vermont.
