Early Sunday, game wardens were busy investigating snowmobile crashes in Eustis and China.

In Eustis, just after midnight, wardens responded to Airport Road, where a snowmobile had struck a vehicle that had previously gone off the road, according to a press release issued by the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife.

Jason Pillsbury, 28, of Strong, had been driving a Toyota Tacoma on Airport Road when his vehicle left the road and rolled over. A short time later, his friend, John Morris, 37, of Eustis, was driving a 2013 Arctic Cat snowmobile on Airport Road and struck Pillsbury’s vehicle. Morris was taken to Franklin Memorial Hospital in Farmington and then transferred to Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston with serious injuries, the release said. State Police and Eustis Fire and Rescue assisted. Officials said speed was a contributing factor in the crash.

At about 2 a.m. Sunday, wardens investigated a snowmobile crash off Stanley Hill Road in China.

David Willard, 25, of Oakland, was driving a snowmobile with passenger, Kenneth Cormier, 47, of China, when the snowmobile apparently struck a small mound in a field and both men were ejected. They were able to drive the snowmobile back to a residence and then were taken to MaineGeneral Medical Center in Waterville with moderate injuries. Speed was a contributing factor in that accident as well, according to the release.
