MONMOUTH — Sierra Spencer made three 3-pointers in the first quarter and the Mustangs jumped out to a 19-3 on their way to 70-42 win against St. Dominic in Mountain Valley Conference girls basketball action Tuesday night.
Spencer finished with 18 points and seven rebounds for Monmouth (10-3). Kylie Kemp added 12 points and six rebounds for the Mustangs. Danielle Bumann had eight assists.
Kelly Pomerleau had 26 points and Alexis Dwinnell 12 for St. Dominic (6-7).
Bangor 61, Messalonskee 49: Mikayla Turner scored 15 points and grabbed 10 rebounds, but it wasn’t enough for the Eagles, who dropped a Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference Class A contest with the Rams in Oakland.
Taylor Easler added 10 points and seven rebounds for Messalonskee (6-7), while Delaney Collier scored seven points.
The Rams (10-3) were led by Mary Butler with 15 points.
Boys basketball
Bangor 61, Messalonskee 56, OT: Alex Campbell’s 3-pointer with 11 seconds in regulation got the host Rams into overtime where they pulled away for the KVAC A win.
Campbell finished with a game-high 22 points while teammate Sean Tocci added 12. For Messalonskee (6-7), Jordon Holmes scored 19 , Nick Mayo 12 and Travis Stacey 10. Bangor is 9-4.
Boys hockey
Hebron 3, Kents Hill 2: Steve Donahue, Mike Kelly and Austin Goldstein each scored in the first period as the Lumberjacks beat the Huskies in Hebron.
Alex Bitsakis stopped 38 shots for Hebron.
Caleb Fizer and Filip Akermark both scored goals, while Jared Cockrell and Logan Day each had an assists. Ben Eddols had 33 saves.
