I think the article in the Kennebec Journal, “New letter scam seeks corporate records,” on Jan. 23 was poorly done and misrepresented a local business.

The writer never contacted The Mailing Center to get any information whatsoever. She only wrote the scammers’ return address was “126 Western Ave., Augusta,” and then states “the address of The Mailing Center.”

Had she called, she would have gotten information that The Mailing Center has hundreds of legitimate private mailbox holders.

I believe the way the article was written insinuates that The Mailing Center was involved in the scam, as evidenced by several client comments related to that article the same day.

Not everyone knows The Mailing Center has private mailboxes.
