BANGOR — A Glenburn man has been sentenced to 18 months in jail after pleading guilty to molesting two young girls.

Daniel Severance admitted on Monday to six unlawful sexual contact charges in a deal with prosecutors. The 30-year-old Daniel Severance had at first faced gross sexual assault charges, which carry a sentence of 20 years.

In addition to his jail time, he will be on probation for 12 years and must register as a sex offender.

His lawyer tells WABI-TV that the deal avoided a trial and putting children on the stand.

The fact that Severance took responsibility for the crimes and avoided trial was taken into consideration during sentencing.
