I was greatly distressed when I heard that recent budget cuts have endangered the local Meals on Wheels program.

Some of the program’s clients (of which I am one) already may face the choice between sufficient food or heat and medication.

Not only are the meals delicious and nutritious, but they are delivered by kind, caring volunteers, whose visits also serve as wellness checks for some clients.

The program also serves as a link to other much-needed services, such as balance classes, pet food assistance and medical information.

Also the homemade holiday ornaments by local school children greatly brighten our days.

I urge everyone to do whatever they can to support this vital program.
