WATERVILLE  — A Skowhegan man charged with robbing a High Street resident of prescription pills is scheduled to appear April 9 in Kennebec County Superior Court.

Donald Eugene Roderick, 35, of 21 Adams St., was arrested Friday in Skowhegan.

Roderick was charged with class A felony robbery and class E misdemeanor violation of condition of release after allegedly entering a woman’s apartment on High Street in Waterville Thursday and stealing a bottle of prescription Ritalin pills, according to Waterville Deputy police Chief Charles Rumsey.

Ritalin often is used to treat attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder and narcolepsy.

The woman and a friend were in the apartment at the time and reportedly chased Roderick out of the building after he took the pills, according to an affidavit Cloutier filed in District Court.

The affidavit, dated Feb. 15, says the woman whose pills were stolen told Cloutier that Roderick grabbed the pill bottle off her table and she tried to stop him from opening the door by grabbing his sweatshirt. He bent her fingers, punched her arm and ran, according to her statement.

Rumsey said she suffered a minor injury in the incident.

Her friend held on to the door of the pickup truck Roderick got into after leaving the house and when the truck backed up, she fell down an embankment, according to a statement in the affidavit.

Another man was in the pickup truck at the time, it said.

A Kennebec County jail spokeswoman said Tuesday that Roderick remained incarcerated there.
