Stove pipe sets wall on fire in Skowhegan

SKOWHEGAN — Firefighters were sent to Chestnut Street Tuesday morning after a caller reported a fire in a mobile home.

Skowhegan fire Capt. Rick Caldwell said a chimney pipe from a wood stove ignited a section of a wooden wall, but that the fire was nearly out when firefighters arrived just after 11:20 a.m.

Crews tore out an additional portion of the wall to extinguish hot spots before the fire could spread.
