The Opportunity Alliance has openings in their Foster Grandparent and Senior Companion volunteer programs with placements in York, Cumberland and southern Oxford counties.
Foster grandparents volunteer with children in schools, child development centers or in the home with a family. Senior companions are friendly visitors to other seniors who are living independently in their own homes or attending an adult day program. Adults 55 and older are encouraged to volunteer 15 or more hours a week.
Volunteers who meet income guidelines receive a tax-free stipend, mileage reimbursement and other benefits that do not affect Social Security, food stamps, Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program or subsidized housing eligibility.
