SKOWHEGAN — Master Gardener Alumni, Mark Sheriff and family in collaboration with UMaine Cooperative Extension, will host an apple tree pruning and grafting field day from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, April 6, at Avalon Acres, 234 Dexter Road. Homeowners who are growing apple trees or plan to plant apple trees this spring are encouraged to attend. The day will start with information about general planting and management practices and then move to the orchard for demonstrations.

Participants should wear appropriate footwear as the group will walk on uneven terrain. Registration is not required but is appreciated. There is no charge for this program. If needed, a rain date of April 13 is set.
