BEVERLY, Mass. — Messalonskee graduate Sam Dexter went 3 for 4 with a pair of solo home runs to lead the University of Southern Maine to a 5-1 win against Endicott College in non-conference baseball action Tuesday.

Erskine graduate Shyler Scates earned the win for the Huskies, allowing one hit and no runs over four innings.

Tucker White added three hits for USM, including a solo homer. The win was the fifth straight for USM (11-3) which is ranked third among Division III teams in New England. Endicott is 10-6.
 
Lindenwood 13-13, Thomas 1-2:  The Lynx swept a doubleheader against the Terriers in Auburndale, Fla.

Derek Kane had a pair of hits for Thomas (1-11) in the first game while Jeffrey Richardson singled twice in the second.

Richmond graduate Tim Bradford drove in two runs with a single and a double.

UNE 7, Colby 6: The Mules rallied in the final minutes but fell just short in Biddeford.

Colby (4-4) had three goals in the final 5:35 of the game. In the final 30 seconds, the Mules had a shot saved by UNE goalie Jay Letendre and also committed a turnover. Colby’s six goals were scored by Garth Franklin, James Wyse, Keith Fairbrother, Ian Deveau, John Grimaldi, and Chip Grossman.
Sam Cloutier scored twice for UNE (7-3).

Softball

Gordon 9-9, UM-Farmington 7-4: Skylar Bareford drove in five runs, the last three on a walk-off bases-loaded double, as the Fighting Scots swept the Beavers in Wenham, Mass.

Cony graduate Emily Soule and Shelby Bryant each went 3 for 4 for UMF (2-2), while Mt. Blue graduate Kaitlyn Bartlett and Cony graduate Amy Jones added two hits apiece. Bartlett hit a three-run homer off Bareford in the sixth inning, then Bareford’s game-winning double came with Bartlett in the circle.

Gordon (6-10) won the second game, 9-4, in four innings. UMF was scheduled to play Thomas in a doubleheader today in Waterville, but those games have been postponed because of wet field conditions.

Women’s lacrosse

USM 21, UM-Farmington 3: Mara Balboni scored twice for the Beavers, who lost in Gorham.

Emma Daniel added a goal for UMF (2-4). Jacki Kelly led USM (6-2) with five goals.

Also Tuesday: Hall-Dale graduate Ryan Leach pitched three shutout innings of relief and picked up the win in Franklin Pierce’s 9-2 victory against St. Anselm. Leach is 2-3 for the season.
