BRUNSWICK — Erskine Academy graduate Nick Grady went 3 for 4 with two RBIs as the University of Southern Maine baseball team beat Bowdoin College 7-2 on Wednesday at Packard Field.

Grady hit a two-run double in the first inning to give USM (11-3) the lead. Bowdoin (9-9) came back to tie it on an RBI ground by Duncan Taylor in the first and an error in the third.

Matt Verrier gave the Huskies the lead back with an RBI groundout in the fourth and Troy Thibodeau added a sacrifice fly. USM added three runs in the eight when Chris Bernard was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded, a sac fly by Verrier and an RBI single by Brett Barrett.

Snowboarding

University of Maine at Farmington graduate Katie Keough won the Women’s Jams (18-22) division giant slalom race at the United States of America Snowboard and Freeski Association championships in Copper Mountain, Colo. on Tuesday.

Keough finished in a combined time of 66.49 to earn the win. On Monday, she finished third in the Women’s Jam slalom rae with a combined time of 51.63.
