UNITY — Unity College announces its focus on sustainability science, the leading-edge of 21st century transdisciplinary (collaborative) environmental problem solving has announced the following Earth Week activities, according to a press release.

Earth Week events will be held at various locations on its campus located at 90 Quaker Hill Road. The events are free and open to the general public.

* Open Barn where visitors can view the FFA’s chicken project, the renovated animal barn and various agriculture projects is set for 9 a.m.-noon Wednesday.

* Greenhouse Grand Opening where visitors can view the campus vegetable greenhouse and learn more about Unity’s partnership with the community-based Veggies For All project is set for 12:30 p.m. Wednesday.

* MOFGA’s campaign coordinators Logan Perkins and Jessie Dowling will discuss L.D. 718, “An Act to Protect Maine Food Consumers’ Right to Know about Genetically Engineered Food and Seed Stock,” will begin at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday.

* Poetry Ready with poets Alison Hawthorne Deming and Liz Bradfield for Poetic Science/Scientific Poetry will begin at 6:30 p.m. Friday in Quimby Library.

* Annual pancake breakfast, provided by the Sugar Makers club, is scheduled for 7-11 a.m. Saturday.

* Unity College 31st Annual 5k Road Race will begin at 9:30 a.m. on campus.

* Imagine Unity — Earth Week Poetry Slam will begin at 7 p.m. Friday, April 26.
