CORNVILLE — Alcohol and cellphone use are part of an investigation into a two-vehicle accident that injured two men Thursday afternoon, police said.

Both drivers were treated and released from Redington-Fairview Hospital in Skowhegan, said a nursing supervisor on Friday.

Police are investigating whether alcohol and cellphone use by Marc Swain, 18, of Norridgewock, were factors in the accident when he lost control of his Jeep Cherokee and collided with a pickup truck driven by William Chappo, 64, of Cornville, according to a news release from Detective Lt. Carl Gottardi of the Somerset County Sheriff’s Office.

The vehicles collided and both went off the road, with the Jeep rolling over and the truck, a 2004 Chevrolet, hitting a telephone pole, Gottardi said.

Gottardi said the accident at the intersection of Shadagee Road and Molunkus Road around 3 p.m. still under investigation and that the district attorney’s office is reviewing the case to determine whether there will be any charges against Swain.
