FAIRFIELD — A 5 kilometer run/walk and 1-mile fun run is planned for May 4 at the Kennebec Montessori School. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m., the fun run begins at 9 a.m. and the 5K begins at 9:30 a.m.
The course will run through KMS’s idyllic 14 acres of land from the fields around the orchard to the area by the stream and trails through the woods. Runners can visit the school’s outdoor classroom, parts of the property being developed for use as an active learning environment.
Advanced registration cost $15 for adults, $5 for children 12 and younger or $20/$10 the day of the race. The first 25 people to register will receive a free T-shirt.
A finish-line breakfast and awards ceremony to recognize the top finishers in all age categories, with prizes for all the children who participate, is planned.
Proceeds will help pay for needed capital improvements and help fund a scholarship program.
