GADSDEN, Ala. — Under the warm afternoon glow of a southern Alabama sun, with Van Morrison’s “Crazy Love” played in the background by Sweetwater Road, Erin Elizabeth Hayford and Trevor William Clark were joined together in marriage under the peach trees of J&D Farm in Gadsden, Ala. on June 23, 2012. Erin and Trevor were escorted by their parents Robert and Jamie Hayford of North Monmouth, Maine and Richard and Caroline Clark of Hoover, Ala. The ceremony was officiated by the Reverend Brett Ellis.

Maids of Honor were Jodie Hayford, of New York City, sister of the bride; and best friend Moriah Vellani, of Portland, Maine. Bridesmaids were Courtney Sheehan, of Vermont; Bianca Cloutier, of California; Kelly Ann Atterberry, of Washington; and Kathryn Soule, of Ohio. Best man was Richard Clark II, brother of the groom. Groomsmen were Paul Clark, brother of the groom, Ben Alexander, Mark Bentley, Zac Coleman and Mike Fitzpatrick, all friends of the groom from Alabama. Flower girl was Alaina Hall, the groom’s cousin.

All arrangements for their special day were designed, assembled and coordinated by Erin and Trevor, representing themes from their home states of Maine and Alabama. The reception was hosted on the J&D Farm premises under a barn roof, simply decorated with wisps of vintage décor and farm remnants, and this setting, along with blue grass music provided by well-known local band, Sweetwater Road, helped conjure up memories of a bygone rustic country era. Guests were served hors d’oeuvres and Maine blueberry, strawberry and dandelion wine, all homemade by the special efforts of Erin and Trevor. Decorations were done by the couple and wedding party, parents of the bride and groom, and good friends Emily Grover of Boston and Chelsea Adams of Washington. A three-tiered wedding cake was made by Kelly Justice, friend of the groom. Bouquets and boutonnieres of rosemary and babies’-breath were arranged by Mimi and Ward Watson, friends of the groom. As a parting token of love, family and friendship, each guest received a jar of Erin’s and Trevor’s homemade Alabama peach jelly.

A Maine reception for friends and family was held later on July 8, 2012 at the home of Erin’s grandparents, the late James and Nellie Hooker of Winthrop, Maine.
