LISBON — A high school freshman has won this year’s Moxie Festival logo contest for her drawing based on the theme, “Moxie: A Maine Tradition.”
Lisbon High School student Kristen Butler received a $100 check and a 2013 Moxie Festival T-shirt of her winning entry.
Her logo shows a deer with its antlers forming the word “Moxie” and Maine-themed ornaments — a lighthouse, a lobster, a pine tree, a moose and a can of Moxie — dangling from the antlers.
This year’s festival takes place July 12-14 in Lisbon. The annual event started in 1982 to pay homage to the unusual beverage that was concocted by a Mainer in the 1870s.
Moxie is Maine’s official soft drink.
