OAKLAND — Messalonskee sophomore Ben Frazee pitched a no-hitter to lead the Eagles to an 8-1 win against Mt. Ararat in a Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference Class A baseball game Friday.

The right-hander struck out nine and walked three. Mt. Ararat scored its run in the seventh inning one a pair of walks, a hit batter and a fielder’s choice.

“He was hitting his spots with his fastball and his curveball was working really well,” Messalonskee coach Ray Bernier said of Frazee. “He’s probably got the best curve I’ve seen since I’ve been coaching.”

Jake Dexter singled and doubled twice for Messalonskee (7-3) while Josh Woodard added a two-run single. Mt. Ararat is 3-7.

Winthrop 6, Spruce Mountain 5: Ben Caprara had an RBI single in the bottom of the sixth inning as the host Ramblers earned the Mountain Valley Conference win.

Dakota Carter had a two-run double in the sixth to tie the game before Caprara’s hit. Drew Stratton added two singles and an RBI for the Ramblers (7-1). Ben Allen earned the win, allowing seven hits and striking out four.

Brandon Hoogie homered for Spruce Mountain (6-3).

Monmouth 2, Madison 1: Kyle Fletcher pitched a complete game, allowing just a seventh inning run as the Mustangs beat the Bulldogs in an MVC game in Madison.

Fletcher struck out four, walked two and allowed three hits for Monmouth (7-2). Alex Curtis had two singles and an RBI while Fletcher added two singles for the Mustangs.

Garrett Emery hit a solo home run in the seventh inning for Madison (4-6). Jacob Johnson and Tristan Emery each singled for Madison’s other hits. Chase Malloy pitched a complete game for the Bulldogs, allowing six hits, while striking out four and walking two.

Camden Hills 6, Maranacook 4: The Windjammers scored two runs in the top of the sixth inning to earn the KVAC B win in Readfield.

Joe Chamberlain led Camden Hills (7-2) with two singles and Ian Nason added a double.

Tucker Whitman and Zach Elwell each had two singles for Maranacook (5-5).

Erskine 4, Mt. Blue 3: Zack Isbell doubled and scored the game-winning run in the fourth inning on a double from John Suga to lift the Eagles to the KVAC A win in South China.

Isbell finished with a single and double while Josh Bailey added an RBI single for the Eagles. Jordan Whitney singled home a run for Mt. Blue (2-8). Bailey picked up the pitching win in relief of Jake Rideout. Erskine is 3-7.

Gardiner 7, Medomak 4: Dennis Meehan doubled, tripled and also picked up the pitching win to lead the Tigers to the KVAC B win in Waldoboro.

Meehan drove in two runs and also struck out 10 in five innings on the mound. Frank Chepke and Josh Mashke each singled twice for Gardiner (5-4) while Hunter Belanger doubled and drove in two runs and Zach Farrin added an RBI triple.

Brandon Soper doubled for Medomak (0-10).

Mt. Abram 3, Hall-Dale 2: The Roadrunners scored three runs in the fourth inning to take the MVC win.

Jay Chenard went the distance to earn the win for Mt. Abram, and doubled. Brian Allen took the loss for Hall-Dale.

Brunswick 4, Lawrence 1: Brunswick’s Brady Larson gave up just one hit, a first inning single by Cody Martin, to lead the Dragons to the KVAC A win in Fairfield.

Charlie Lowell drove in two runs for Brunswick (3-6).

Derek Raven scored the lone Lawrence (1-9) run on a passed ball in the fourth inning.

Winslow 8, Lincoln 2: Gabe Smith had a double, two singles and scored two runs as the Black Raiders had 11 hits using special Mothers’ Day pink bats to earn the KVAC B win in Winslow.

Donald Camp and Zach Guptill each added two singles for the Black Raiders (10-0). Dylan Hapworth and Jake Trask combined to pitch a three-hitter while striking out 10.

Boys lacrosse

Maranacook/Winthrop 11, Morse 8: Jesse Evans and Zach Glazier both scored twice in the fourth quarter as the Hawks rallied from a two-goal deficit and scored six times for a KVAC B win in Readfield.

Evans finished with four goals and three assists, while Glazier had three goals and two assists for Maranacook/Winthrop (6-1). Zach Lacasse and Dan Condon each added a goal and an assist, while Alex Tooth and Denver Cram each chipped in a goal. Zach Bessette had 17 saves for Maranacook/Winthrop.

Alex Paulus had three goals and an assist for Morse (6-2). Matt Buczkowski added three goals, while Alec Bevridge and Otto Werwaiss each had one.

Messalonskee 11, Cony 6: Eric Van Derr Karr had four goals as the Eagles won a KVAC A game in Oakland.

Ben Weeks added three goals and two assists for Messalonskee (5-3), while Josh Towle had a goal and three assists. Conner Leonard also had a goal and an assist, while Ryan Erskine, Aidan Calkins, Sawyer Michaud and Jordon Holmes each had one assist. Jake Smith stopped 12 saves for the Eagles.

Bronson Kieltyka and Austin Davis each had two goals for Cony (1-6). Dan Erbe and John Bennett both chipped in a goal, while Kevin Kingsbury had two assists. Isaac Gingras stopped 14 shots.
