SAN DIEGO — San Diego police have arrested a 78-year-old man they say robbed a bank but he’s not suspected of being the so-called Geezer Bandit.
Police say the man, wearing a black three-piece suit and a hat, entered the Comerica Bank on Rosecrans Street Monday afternoon and threatened to throw acid on the tellers unless they gave him money.
Authorities say the man left the bank, pulling a rolling suitcase.
Dale E. Jenkins of San Diego was stopped about two blocks away and arrested. He remains jailed Tuesday.
Authorities say there’s no indication that Jenkins is the Geezer Bandit — an elderly-looking man who robbed 16 banks between 2009 and 2011. Authorities suspect that robber was a younger man wearing a mask.
