WATERVILLE — Dan Pooler hit a home run and Brian Bellows struck out eight to lead the Waterville baseball team past Nokomis 10-1 in a Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference game Wednesday afternoon.

Kaleb Kane and Racean Wood each hit doubles for Waterville (9-3). Bellows improved his record to 3-1 on the season with the win. Pooler, Bellows, Kane and Aiden FitzGerald each had two hits for the Panthers.

Nokomis dropped to 4-8.

Morse 8, Mt. View 5: Liam McDonough, Aaron Doughty and Keegan McDonough each had hits to lead the Shipbuilders to the Class B victory in Bath.

Morse improved to 3-9.

Ricky Moulton went 2 for 4 with a pair of doubles and Nate Lord drove in a pair of runs for the Mustangs (3-9). Lord had a double and a triple.

Madison 3, Carrabec 1: Cody Saucier had an RBI single and Chase Malloy pitched a complete game to lead the Bulldogs to the MVC win in North Anson.

Rhett McKenney, K.P. Carpenter and Jack Money each had singles for the Bulldogs (5-6).
Brandon Lehay had an RBI single and Tucker Atwood doubled and singled to lead the Cobras (3-7).

Messalonskee 10, Mt. Blue 0, 5 innings: Jonathan Wilkie had a two-run double and Zach Matthew had a two-run single to lead the Eagles past the Cougars in a KVAC A game in Oakland ended in the fifth inning by the mercy rule.

Messalonskee pitcher Patrick Breton was a hit away from a perfect game, allowing one hit while striking out two batters for the five inning shutout.

Devin Warren added two singles for the Eagles (9-3).

Mt. Blue falls to 3-9.

Leavitt 4, Winslow 2: Levi Morin and Marshall Weiss held the Black Raiders to seven hits  as the Hornets lost their second straight game after opening the season with 10 wins. Tyler Hutchinson and Sam Godfrey had two hits apiece for Leavitt (5-6) while Chase Colford led Winslow (10-2) with a single an double.

Skowhegan 12, Brewer 2: Taylor Bacon pitched a completed game five hitter to lead the Indians to the KVAC Class A win in Brewer. Bacon (4-1) struck five and walked two. Kaleb Brown led the Indians with two singles and two RBIs while teammate Kameron Nelson added two hits and an RBI. Skowhegan is 6-6, Brewer is 4-8.

Softball

Messalonskee 7, Mt. Blue 5: Kylee Knight and Nikki Collier each had two singles to lead the Eagles to the KVAC A win in Oakland.

Emily York drove in a pair of runs in a three-run third for Messalonskee (11-1).

Kiana Thompson had three singhles and Guppy added a pair to lead the Cougars (1-11).

Madison 15, Carrabec 1: Aly LeBlanc and Savannah Kandiko each drove in three runs to lead the Bulldogs to the MVC win in North Anson.

Winning pitcher Emily McKenney and Erika Parker each drove in a pair of runs for Madison (13-0) as well.

Libby Chestnut had an RBI double to lead the Cobras (3-7).

Brewer 6, Skowhegan 5: Lindsay Houp had a double and two singles as the Witches held off the Indians in Brewer.

Morgan Small and Delaney Davis each added two hits for Brewer (11-0).

Shelby Obert went 3 for 4 with two home runs for Skowhegan. Taylor Johnson and Kaitlyn Therriault added two hits apiece. The Indians trailed 6-3 in the top of the seventh when Morgan Buker singled and Obert followed with a two-run homer. Skowhegan is now 7-5, with three of those losses by one run.

Nokomis 9, Waterville 0: The Warriors banged out 13 hits en route to the KVAC Class B win in Waterville. Becky Orcutt allowed four hits in picking up the pitching victory. Orcutt, Lacey Kent-Webber, Natasha Howard, Danielle George and  Courtney Carlson all doubled for Nokomis (9-3) while Gabby Martin doubled for Waterville (2-10).

Winslow 7, Leavitt 3: Ali Leclair had a double, two singles and two RBIs to lead the Raiders to the KVAC B win in Winslow.

Brooke Haskell had two singles and an RBI while Hayley Pottle drove in a run as well for Winslow (8-4).

Olivia Gilbert had two hits for the Hornets (1-10).
