GRAND LAKE STREAM — Maine Game Wardens have found the body of a boater who was missing after a crash Wednesday on an eastern Maine lake.

Vincent J. Bartolomeo, 65, who has residences in Old Orchard Beach and Concord, Mass., was recovered in 28 feet of water Thursday at noon after being thrown from his boat in a two-vehicle crash on West Grand Lake near the town of Grand Lake Stream.

Two men on board a 16-foot Lund with a 40 horsepower outboard motor were safe.

But Bartolomeo, the only person on board a 14-foot open boat with an 8 horsepower motor, was thrown overboard and never surfaced. He was not wearing a life jacket.

The driver of the second boat was Richard Albano, 74, of Billerica, Mass. His brother, Robert Albano of Medford, Mass., was his passenger. The brothers have a camp in Princeton, according to the warden service.

Game wardens, the warden dive team and a warden service aircraft helped in Thursday’s search.

The crash remains under investigation.
