GARDINER — The following Gardiner Area High School students have been selected to attend the American Legion Auxiliary’s Dirigo Girls State and the American Legion’s Dirigo Boys State programs:

Boys State delegates

Matthew Clark is the son of John and Jill Clark, of West Gardiner. He is a member of the National Honor Society, Class Council, a student council representative, has served as president of his class for three years and is a Gardiner Scholar, as well as a member of chorus, show choir and World Languages Club. He has been a cast member in all high school musical productions. He has participated in sports including track and field, baseball and golf. Clark is a recipient of the Rotary Student of the Month Award and has maintained highest honors throughout his high school career. In the community, he volunteers with the Gardiner Regional Middle School drama productions. He is sponsored by the Gardiner-Augusta Lions Club.

Sam Driscoll is the son of Douglas and Donna Driscoll, of Pittston. He is a National Honor Society member and a recipient of the Rotary Student of the Month Award. He is a member of the high school band, jazz band, band board, chorus and show choir and has been a cast member in several school musicals and drama productions. He is actively involved with the Civil Rights Team, the Drama Club, the Rainbow Club and the Health Team. He is a past member of the cross-country team. In the community, Driscoll has participated in fundraising for the National Association of Mental Illness. He is sponsored by the American Legion Post 4.

Logan Hallett is the son of Charles and Julie Hallett, of West Gardiner. He has served as class treasurer and has participated in sports including basketball and golf. In the community, Hallett is a volunteer at the Boys and Girls Club of Gardiner. He is sponsored by the Gardiner Rotary Club.

Nate MacDonald is the son of David and Kim MacDonald, of West Gardiner. He is a member of the Civil Rights Team, serving on the CRT Advisory Board and a participant in the Upward Bound Program. McDonald is involved in both chorus and show choir and has been a cast member in several school musicals and drama productions. He has received the Most Improved in English Award, is a student representative on the school board and was selected as the Maine Youth Leadership representative from Gardiner Area High School. In the community, MacDonald volunteers with the Gardiner Regional Middle School drama productions and the Southern Kennebec Child Development Center. He is sponsored by the Gardiner Federal Credit Union.

Josh Mashke is the son of Ken and Daryl Mashke, of Gardiner. He is a member of the high school band, the Civil Rights Team, the Ultimate Frisbee Team and a member of the backstage crew for musical productions. Mashke has participated in sports including basketball, baseball, soccer and cross-country. He is a recipient of the Rotary Student of the Month Award and was involved in the Day of Caring. He is the alternate for the 2013 Dirigo Boys State program.

Girls State delegates

Camden Cone is the daughter of Marc Cone and Deborah Sparrow, of Gardiner. She is a member of the National Honor Society, has served as secretary of her class and is a member of the Math Team. Cone has participated in sports including track and field, field hockey, basketball and softball. She is a recipient of the Science Award, the Spanish Award and the History Award. In the community, Cone volunteers for youth basketball and field hockey programs. She is sponsored by the American Legion Auxiliary Post 4.

Emalee Couture is the daughter of Kim and Mike Flynn and Steve and Lisa Benner, of West Gardiner. She is a member of the National Honor Society and serves as student council representative. She is a member of the Math Team, the high school band, jazz band, band board and has been involved with Pizazz productions. Couture has participated in sports including basketball, field hockey and track. She is a recipient of the Health Award. In the community, Couture has volunteered at youth field hockey programs. She is sponsored by the Gardiner Federal Credit Union.

Lee-Anne Greenleaf is the daughter of Rusty and Paula Greenleaf, of Gardiner. She is a member of the National Honor Society, a student council representative and a recipient of the History Award. Greenleaf is a member of the high school band, jazz band and band board. She has participated in sports including field hockey, track, indoor field hockey and indoor track. Her dedication to the sport of field hockey earned her the All-State Rookie Award last year. In the community, she volunteers her time with youth field hockey camps, Mehawana Camp, the Rotary Club and with events sponsored by her church. She is sponsored by the Augusta-Gardiner Lions Club.

Brooke Curtis is the daughter of Justin and Michelle Curtis, of Pittston. She has participated in sports including golf, field hockey and lacrosse. In the community, Curtis volunteers with the T-ball youth league and enjoys hunting and fishing with her father. She is sponsored by The Bank of Maine.

Madison Cutler is the daughter of Troy and Kathleen Cutler, of Pittston. She is a member of the National Honor Society and a recipient of the Rotary Student of the Month Award. Madison is a member of the high school band, jazz band and Health Team and a past member of the Civil Rights Team and show choir. She has participated in sports including soccer, basketball and lacrosse. In the community, Cutler volunteers her time with the Gardiner youth basketball program. She is sponsored by Staples Funeral Services.

Nikki McGee is the daughter of Kelly McGee, of Randolph and Ronnie Rines, of Pittston. She is a recipient of both the Service Above Self Award and the Rotary Student of the Month Award. She has participated in sports including both junior varsity and varsity swimming. McGee is an alternate for the 2013 Dirigo Girls State program.

Courtney Cotnoir is the daughter, of Scott and Leigh Cotnoir of West Gardiner. She is a member of the Health Team and has participated in sports including ice hockey, lacrosse, field hockey, golf and cross-country. In the school community, Courtney has participated in the Day of Caring, the Thanksgiving basket project, helping with office work and the JMG recycling program. Outside of school she volunteers at an out-of-state church camp and with the Gardiner Youth Hockey Association Day of Play. Cotnoir is an alternate for the 2013 Dirigo Girls State program.
