Dogs and their walkers head east at the start of the the 20th annual Mutt Strut on Saturday, along Capitol Street in Augusta.

The event  was sponsored by the Kennebec Valley Humane Society “to raise money for local animals in need of shelter, food, medical care, and the second chance for a loving home” according to a release.

Walkers started at the Buker Community Center, headed down Capitol, looped around the State House and then headed back after a water break.
