BELGRADE — Clifton (Skip) and Verna Hammond celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary at Young’s Lobster Pound in Belfast with their family.

Mr. Hammond and the former Verna Guptill were married May 8, 1948, in Belgrade by the Rev. Leo Dunn.

The Hammonds are the founders of Hammond Lumber Company which this year celebrated its 60th anniversary. The Hammonds spent their working career at the company until their retirement.

They have three children: Donald Hammond and his wife Mary; Deborah Thing and her husband Robert; and Mary Palange and her husband John; all of Belgrade.

They have six grandchildren: Michael Hammond and his wife Amy; Daniel Hammond and his wife Kerri; Sarah Krizo and her husband Brent; Laura Romano and her husband Anthony; Helen Bliss and her husband Adam; and Sophia Palange.

They also have 11 great-grandchildren; Mercedes and Bethany Hammond, Nicholas and Alexandra Romano, Elizabeth, Myles and Jack Hammond, Maxfield and Samuel Krizo, plus Luca and Colette Bliss.
