WALDOBORO — Crews next week will begin putting another layer of pavement along Route 32 from Waldoboro to Jefferson.

The 14.5-mile repaving project begins Wednesday and runs between U.S. Route 1 in Waldoboro and Route 17 in Washington, according to Ted Talbot, spokesman for the Maine Department of Transportation.

Talbot said the repavement is expected to be completed by the end of July, weather permitting.

Signs will alert motorists to the work; however, no detours are planned, Talbot said. Instead, there will be alternating one-way traffic with flaggers.

Pike Industries won the contract to do the work for $1.8 million. The total cost of the project, including engineering, is $2.5 million, Talbot said.
