AUBURN — Maine officials say an 82-year-old woman has died in an apartment fire in Auburn.
The Auburn Fire Department said a passer-by reported that a two-unit apartment house on Second Street was on fire at 3 a.m. Tuesday.
When crews entered the first-floor apartment, they found Marilyn Bonney’s body in the kitchen. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Officials say she was the only occupant of the building. Her dog, cat and two birds were also killed.
The fire is under investigation, but it’s not considered suspicious.
