WATERVILLE — The Waterville girls tennis team extended its season-long winning streak with a convincing 4-1 win over Mt. Desert Island in an Eastern B quarterfinal match Wednesday afternoon.
Colleen O’Donnell cruised at No. 1 singles, defeating Madeline Cook in straight sets, 6-0, 6-0. Tiffany Suchanek did the same at No. 2 singles, beating Caroline Brann 6-0, 6-0.
No. 3 Waterville (14-0), which will play in the regional semifinals against either No. 2 Camden Hills or No. 7 John Bapst, swept the doubles competition.
Lauren Hallenbeck and Jamie Saulter defeated Sarah Phelps and Ivy Wallace 6-2, 6-1. At No. 2 doubles, Emma Cristan and Emily Dufour beat Sam Krasnow and Sierra Bloom 6-3, 6-4.
