I have been a resident of Readfield for so many years, sometimes I think I could declare ownership of this special town; thus, it troubles me when there seems to be dissension in the ranks.
For the past several months, there seems to be an ongoing disagreement as to whether Readfield should have a town charter.
In my ignorance, I thought every town and city had a charter. Thus, why does Readfield not have a charter?
There are townspeople who are willing to work, to do research, to write it, once the voters see fit to vote for a charter.
Something to be proud of would be the headline: “Readfield residents worked together to create a charter.”
