Kennebec Valley Community Action Program’s Family Enrichment Council of Kennebec and Somerset counties is sponsoring the following free parent enrichment classes, according to a press release from KVCAP:

* 1,2,3,4 Parents!, 9-11 a.m. Mondays, June 3, 10 and 17 at Waterville KVCAP, Shirley Damren room, 97 Water St.

The program will provide information on parenting and child behavior for parents and care providers of children ages 1-4. In the three two-hour classes parents can learn discipline methods, how to prevent tantrums and establishing routines. The class consists of video vignettes, discussion and activities. Light snacks will be served. Gas cards are available upon request. Presenters are Ruth Lessard and Deb Rich.

This class also will be offered 9-11 a.m. Wednesdays, June 12, 19 and 26, at Educare Central, 56 Drummond Ave., Waterville. Lessard will be the presenter.

* Guiding Good Choices, 5-7:30 p.m. Wednesdays, June 5, 12, 19, 26, with the last class to be determined by the group, Skowhegan Federated Church, 13 Island Ave.

The five-week series is an evidence-based class for the parents/guardians of children 9-14 years old. Topics will include building family relationship and bonds, establishing and reinforcing clear and consistent guidelines and expectations for behavior, and teaching children skills to resist peer influence. Light dinner will be served, free childcare and gas cards are available upon request. Rich is the presenter.
