EUGENE, Ore. — Jesse Labreck finished her standout track and field career at the University of Maine by placing 19th in the heptathlon at the NCAA championships Friday evening at the University of Oregon.
Labreck, a Messalonskee graduate and UMaine senior, began the second day of competition with a sixth-place finish in the long jump (10 feet, 10.75 inches). She then finished 17th in the 800-meter run with a time of 2 minutes, 24.57 seconds. She threw the javelin 97-5 to finish 22nd.
Labreck finished the heptathlon with a score of 5,423.
Labreck was 15th after the first day of competition Thursday. She was 14th in the 100 hurdles (13.83) and fourth in the high jump (5-8.75). She was also 22nd in the shot put (33-5.75) and 20th in the 200 (25.29).
