Dads, they all have opinions. Give my father, John Lazarczyk, an opening, and he’ll go on for an hour about how the Baltimore Colts of the 1950s were an indestructible football machine.

Today is the day we don’t roll our eyes at the start of the same stories we’ve heard for years. We don’t hold our nose at the same corny jokes.

If your father wants to go through his 75 point thesis, point by point, on why the 1986 Boston Celtics would grind the 1996 Chicago Bulls into sausage, today you sit there and listen to every word as if it’s the first time you’ve ever heard it.

Today is Father’s Day, and today, dads are paramount.

With that in mind, I turn this column over to Dad. I asked the questions, he provided the opinions. When I called, he was watching Friday night’s Red Sox game, and occasionally paused in answering a question to curse at a Red Sox player for failing to provide run support to Ryan Dempster. I’ve edited out those choice sidebar rants.

With that, I turn this space over to my father, John Lazarczyk.

Will Tim Tebow help the Patriots?

I don’t know if he’ll help them, but he won’t hurt them. I don’t think he’ll be a quarterback. I think he’ll play somewhere else.

What do the Boston Bruins need to do to beat the Chicago Blackhawks and win the Stanley Cup?

Just keep at what they’re doing. Good defense, keep pressure on (Chicago’s) goalie, and hope that (Nathan) Horton can play.

Should Red Sox fans be concerned with Jon Lester, considering his struggles in his recent outings?

No, I think he’s just got to make a couple corrections. He’s leaning to the left, and that’s why he’s missing off the plate.

What do you expect from Rob Gronkowski this season?

If he plays, he’s going to have a great year. He’s a great player. I just hope he stops being so injury prone.

What should the Boston Celtics do about the Doc Rivers situation?

I’d try to convince him to stay, but if he doesn’t want to be here, what kind of job is he going to do? They’re rebuilding, anyway. I don’t know what’s going on there, but there’s something between (Rivers) and (Danny) Ainge.

Should Jose Iglesias get more playing time with the Red Sox?

No, I think they’re doing the right things with him. He’s playing a lot. They won’t re-sign (Stephen) Drew after this year, and he’ll take over at shortstop.

Should the Red Six re-sign Jacoby Ellsbury?

I’d like them to. I think he’s a good ballplayer. I don’t think he’s a great ballplayer. And I sure as hell don’t like his agent (Scott Boras). He’s going to realize that teams won’t give out those crazy contracts any more.

What’s the biggest question facing the Patriots going into the upcoming season?

Receivers. I think they’ll be very good on defense. They’ll still be a very good offensive team, but the question is receivers.

Can Notre Dame repeat last season’s success?

(Note: Dad is a huge Notre Dame fan. He’d paint his roof gold if he thought he could get away with it. If he ever decided to get a tattoo, I bet it would be Touchdown Jesus on his back)

I think Notre Dame probably won’t go undefeated, but they’ll be good. They lost their quarterback (Everett Golson) for a year, but they have good backups. It’s tough to beat schools like Alabama. They’re almost pros.

Good or bad, who has been the biggest surprise of the Red Sox season so far?

Iglesias. No, (Daniel) Nava. He’s doing a lot better than I thought he would. I don’t really have anything bad. They’re in first place.

Happy Father’s Day, everyone.
