CALAIS — Maine police continue to investigate after a pedestrian was hit and killed by a vehicle in a parking lot of a store in Calais.
Calais Police Sgt. Chris Donahue said Zina Eller, 49, of East Machias died after she was struck by a car driven by 74-year-old Kenneth Martin of Eastport.
The accident happened outside of the Marden’s store on Thursday. Police say Martin was pulling into a parking space when Eller was hit.
WNSX-FM reports that Eller was pronounced dead at the scene.
Donahue says the investigation is continuing and it’s not clear if Martin will be charged.
