BINGHAM — A Maine couple who are celebrating their 78th wedding anniversary say they don’t know where the time has gone.
Charlie and Norma Pooler of Bingham celebrated their anniversary on Saturday. When they married in 1935, Norma made her own wedding dress and Charlie wore the blue suit he wore to his high school graduation.
Ninety-seven-year-old Charlie still mows his own yard. Ninety-six-year-old Norma walks two miles a day.
She tells WABI-TV that the formula for a successful marriage is to live and love together, and to give and forgive.
The Poolers say they’ve known each other since they were youngsters and have always done things together.
The Poolers have one son, who will celebrate his 49th wedding anniversary later this year.
