WATERVILLE — A Waterville man was arrested Friday on a theft charge, after he allegedly stole a wheelchair from Inland Hospital and rode it down Kennedy Memorial Drive.

Gary Seth, 34, was found Friday evening with the wheelchair in the driveway of 133 Kennedy Memorial Drive, where the homeowner was offering Seth a cup of water, according to Sgt. Alden Weigelt.

Hospital staff called police at 7:24 p.m. and reported that Seth had stolen the wheelchair from the emergency room. Weigelt said Seth was intoxicated; police were unsure why he was at the hospital.

Seth was arrested by Officer Andrew McMullen and charged with misdemeanor theft by unauthorized taking or transfer, Weigelt said.
