GORHAM — Authorities are fighting a house fire in Gorham that started around 7  p.m. Sunday after it was struck by lightning.

A fire dispatcher for Cumberland County said everyone appears to have made it safely out of the home at 135 Brackett Road.

Another home in Falmouth located at 3 Remington Way also caught fire around the same time, but a police dispatcher said it was too early to say whether the Falmouth fire was caused by lightning.

Earlier in the evening, the National Weather Service in Gray issued a severe thunderstorm warning for Portland and southern Cumberland County. The warning called for hail and winds of 60 mph or higher.
