Why do people want the state to contract out as much work as they can, because they think it’s cheaper?

It might be cheaper, but look at what we get. For example, look at the island on Kennedy Memorial Drive in Waterville, where they get off and on southbound.

That island might be getting mowed once a month, and when they do it’s a mess, hay laying on the ground, no trimming done, no raking done.

When the state did it, it was a nice-looking island all the time.

This is what we get when we contract out work. What if every homeowner kept their lawn looking like that island?
