Pedestrians in Augusta cannot safely cross streets because of seriously unsafe traffic habits.
When one vehicle stops to let someone cross, the vehicle behind the stopped one often pulls around the stopped vehicle to get by in a hurry. This is really dangerous. Drivers should be considerate for the safety of pedestrians.
There is a driving act even more dangerous, however. It is when vehicles switch lanes while going around a traffic circle. This puts lives at risk.
As a pedestrian, I ask drivers of vehicles to pay attention to all the walkers. We would be relieved to be able to walk around Augusta safety.
