SKOWHEGAN — Six people were arrested in Skowhegan Thursday afternoon on drug trafficking and related charges after police said they seized 16 grams of crack cocaine and 10 retail bags of heroin from two apartments on Sherwood Drive.

According to a press release from the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency, the following people were arrested:
• Allisha Savage, 24, of Skowhegan, on three counts of trafficking in heroin and crack cocaine.
• Darcy Soucier, 39, of Skowhegan, on charges of trafficking in crack cocaine and violation of bail.
• Prince Taylor, 31, of Brooklyn, N.Y., on a charge of trafficking in crack cocaine.
• Kareem Woods, 20, of Roxbury, Mass., on a charge of possession of crack cocaine.
• Brian Jenkins, 23, of Dorchester, Mass., on a charge of possession of heroin.
• Rashard Perkins, 28, of Leominster, Mass., on a charge of possession of crack cocaine.

The arrests came after police searched two apartments at 7 and 8 Sherwood Drive on Thursday morning. According to the release, they are still looking for Jason Savage, 22, of Skowhegan, who fled from one of the apartments and is wanted for questioning.

Police have been investigating reports of cocaine and heroin trafficking in Skowhegan for more than a month and more arrests are expected, said Sgt. Lowell Woodman of the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency. Woodman is overseeing the investigation.

He said the 16 grams of cocaine has a street value of about $1,600. The 10 bags of heroin each contained about 1/20 of a gram and are valued at $30 each, he said.

Heroin and cocaine trafficking is a class B felony punishable by up to 10 years in prison and a fine of $20,000. Heroin and cocaine possession are class C felonies punishable by up to five years in prison and a fine of $5,000.

Jenkins, Perkins, Savage, Soucier, Taylor and Woods were taken to Somerset County Jail on Thursday, said Woodman. He said they will each appear in Somerset County Superior Court on Sept. 11.
