HALLOWELL — A local businessman was involved in a three-vehicle crash on Maple Street on Thursday afternoon that damaged a home and sent an area girl to the hospital with minor injuries.

Hallowell police Chief Eric Nason said that just before 5 p.m., Abby Wormell, 17, of Augusta, went through a stop sign at the intersection of Blaine Road and Maple Streets.

When she entered Maple Street, Nason said, her vehicle was hit in the rear by an eastbound vehicle driven by Steve Marson, 57, of Pittston, the owner of Hallowell-based Central Maine Pyrotechnics and Pyro City fireworks stores in several Maine locations, including Manchester and Winslow.

Nason said Marson’s car spun into a home at 29 Maple St., owned by Paula Beleckis. Meanwhile, Wormell collided with a westbound vehicle driven by Nancy Armentrout, 55, of Farmingdale.

Wormell was taken by ambulance to MaineGeneral Medical Center with minor injuries, while Marson and Armentrout were mostly unhurt, Nason said. He said Beleckis’ lawn and home siding were damaged when Marson’s car spun into it.
