OGUNQUIT — Police say two firefighters were injured Monday morning while fighting a fire in a commercial building in Ogunquit.

The fire was in a building at 20 Shore Road, close to the busy town square. At one point, fire hoses were covering both Shore Road and Route 1, according to police.

One firefighter received a knee injury and a second broke his hand while fighting the fire, police said. Both are being treated at a local hospital.

Fire officials were not immediately available to answer questions about the injuries or the extent of the fire, which was first reported before 9 a.m.

Route 1 and Shore Road were closed for a couple hours early Monday, but reopened to traffic shortly before 10:30 a.m., according to police.

Everyone made it out of the building safely, police said.
