PORTLAND — Portland police sent a team of four officers to the Eastern Promenade on Monday night after a female jogger reported seeing a man sitting on a park bench with a gun that looked like a rifle.

Lt. Gary Hutcheson said officers went to Loring Memorial Park Street around 7 p.m. The park, which is dedicated to military veterans, is located in a small traffic circle at the end of North Street.

“We got up there and found nothing,” Hutcheson said.
