RICHMOND — The Richmond-Dresden Bridge that carries traffic on Route 197 over the Kennebec River will be reduced to one lane today, according to the Maine Department of Transportation.

Crews are working to build a new bridge nearby, which makes it necessary to move equipment on and off the current bridge for 16 to 18 hours, starting at 5 a.m. today. Flaggers will be at the site.

The $17.6 million bridge replacement project is by Reed and Reed Inc. of Woolwich.
