AUGUSTA — Maine’s first lady is hosting an ice cream social for military families.
Ann LePage says guests are encouraged to wear play clothes and join in lawn games outside the governor’s mansion. She says Wednesday’s event is a time to “enjoy some summer fun” for military families who’re accustomed to making sacrifices.
Individuals can contact the Child and Youth Program Office of the Maine National Guard to attend. The event is open to military families of any age and any branch of the military.
LePage says it’s an opportunity for military families to network and have some fun before school resumes. Each child will receive free school supplies, thanks to Operation Homefront.
