Farmingdale will receive $500,000 in federal funds to help improve the town sewer system, the U.S. Department of Agriculture announced today.

Farmingdale is among five water and wastewater community projects in rural Maine to receive funds. Others are Jay ($1.2 million), Livermore Falls ($500,000), Brownville ($30,000), Indian Township ($30,655).

Farmingdale will receive a $300,000 water and waste disposal loan and a $200,000 water and waste disposal grant, according to the department of agriculture.
