SKOWHEGAN — The 117th annual reunion of the Eaton/Norridgewock High School Alumni Association was held in July at the Centenary United Methodist Church. The reunion honored the founding of the Hamlin F. Eaton Boarding and Day School in 1866 in Norridgewock.

The 2013 reunion welcomed 56 alumni and guests. Alumni attended at least one year at Norridgewock High School or the ninth grade at Norridgewock Central Grade School.

The oldest person attending was Mary (Merry) Oatway, class of 1938, and traveling the farthest was June (Worthley) Jepson, class of 1954, from North Carolina.

The three college scholarships awarded to Skowhegan Area High School graduates from Norridgewock went to Alexander Baker, Andrew Pineo and Amanda Saucier. Recipients of the achievement awards for the highest ranking Norridgewock boy and girl were Alexander Baker and Sarah Finnemore.

A presentation was made regarding a granite bench to be erected in Norridgewock by the alumni association to honor Eaton which will bear his name, birth and death dates, and an inscription of his last words to one of his daughters: “Remember, Norridgewock was always my home.” The group seeks donations from anyone interested in preserving the memory of Eaton and his school.
