VASSALBORO — A China man was flown to the hospital over the weekend after a crash on U.S. Route 201.

Warren Sidelinger, 31, was flown by a LifeFlight helicopter to a Lewiston hospital with unspecified injuries, said Deputy Chief Ryan Reardon of the Kennebec County Sheriff’s Office.

The crash occurred around 8 p.m., Saturday as Sidelinger drove a 1997 Toyota car south on U.S. 201. The Toyota crossed the center line, went across the northbound lane and into the ditch, where it struck several trees. Sidelinger had to be cut from the car, Reardon said.

The crash occurred on a straight section of road. Reardon said investigators have not yet determined what caused the accident, but he said alcohol does not appear to have been a factor.
